We booked tickets to Tel Aviv for February 2018! Very excited about this. Israel is a country that I’ve spent a lot of time in and that I absolutely love and I am beyond excited to share it with my brave boyfriend. I say brave because he totally got on board with this trip and then looked on a map and realized in a glance Israel’s fundamental security issues. Realizing that it was smack dab in between, or a stone’s throw from, all of the countries that many of us think of as the most unsafe in the world (Syria, Iran, etc) did not inspire feelings of warmth, safety, and security to him. However, he bravely agreed to forge ahead with this trip solely based on the word of me and my mom that it is a safe place to visit.
On to the itinerary – I realized pretty quickly that I’m not going to be able to provide him all the experiences and understanding of Israeli culture in a week that it has taken me years to experience. So this trip will focus on a few tourist highlights, but mostly hanging out in Tel Aviv so that he falls in love with the country and wants to go back. To which point I have another itinerary in the works that will focus on visiting solely the north of Israel and exploring the Galilee, the Golan, the Jordan River, and great hiking all while staying on Kibbutzes and in Tzimmers and visiting lots of wineries.
Here is the itinerary for February that is currently in the works. For reference, we are using Starwood points to get free nights at the Sheraton Tel Aviv which is an awesome location. If we were paying for accommodation, we would probably have done an AirBnB.
